| Phase I PLANNING |
Kick off Meeting
- At this stage, an initial meeting with the client defines
the needs and purpose of the site, and the image
that needs to be communicated to the target audience, who that audience is, what dynamic components does the client want to include, and the look and feel of the site are
all discussed.
From this meeting an estimate
is created. |
| Estimate and Scope of Work
- Navigation and information Architecture (IA) is outlined along with components that drive the cost of the site such as photography or animation. A contract for services is provided
for approval from the estimated scope of work. At this point changes to the scope are discussed and a final estimate is provided. |
Client Approval, Contract signed
A retainer is required before project begins |
| PHASE II - DESIGN |
| Design
- Exploring concepts for visual style is done with drafts
for the home page and one tertiary page are presented to, and approved by the client. |
| Up to Phase III,
changes can be made to the outline, navigation,
and design. However, after approval and the start of construction,
navigation and design changes are all considered outside of the scope
of work and are charged separately. |
Client Approval
Milestone payment is required. Payment due upon receipt |
| PHASE III - Development |
| Coding, development, construction
- With the interface design established, and the outline
finalized and approved, the process of implementing the
desired look-and-feel across all the different pages in
the site is started. All graphics are sliced and exported
from the design program and imported into the web page
development program for HTML or sent to the PHP or ASP developer if that level is required. |
| Content Management - The client should provide all content in MS word (page text should contain key
words relative to the site for search engines). One pass of minor text changes to the content
are reasonable and are included in the estimate. However, major changes to client provided content, are outside of the scope of work. |
| Layout and Formatting
- Once a template is created it is applied to it's corresponding
pages, and the text and images are imported. CSS styles
are applied to the text. |
| Hosting - Providing the FTP information, or activating the domain name and contacting the ISP (internet
service provider) should be done by this time. Client
should provide username, password and contact information
for the ISP. Client is responsible for hosting expense since it is an ongoing event. Email set up and other functions are not included in estimate. |
Client Approval
Milestone payment is required. Payment due upon receipt.
Work prior to launch is considered COD. |
| PHASE IV BROWSER TESTING |
| Testing - A live version
of the site is posted via FTP to the client's server, and tested in
Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox on both platforms
to discover and eradicate any problems and to ensure that
the site functions as intended. Drop down menus will not
function properly unless they are on the client's ISP
since the path that is coded is true. |
| Search Engine Registration - Submitting
a web site to the top Internet search engines is one of
the most efficient ways to market it. Payment for adding
a URL is required by some search engines. 10-15
key words, a title and a short description should be provided by the
client. Time and cost for submitting to search engines's
are separate from the site estimate. |
| PHASE V - MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT |
As an ongoing process, client requests
for updates and necessary changes and additions are made
to the site and are charged by the hour.
Clients can also
edit their own web sites using Macromedia, or if a PHP site is developed a user interface is provided along with training (if specified). |
| Charged by the hour, invoiced monthly. |
